The Russian Journal of Immunology was founded in 1996 and was registered with the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Press, Broadcasting and Mass Media (certificate of registration of mass media PI No. 77-11525 of January 4, 2002). International Registration Number ISSN 1028-7221. Circulation 1000 copies. Frequency 4 issues per year. The volume of each issue is 15-19 printed sheets.

The Journal is distributed throughout the Russian Federation and in the CIS countries. Since 2005, the journal has been included in the register of subscription publications: the subscription index in the Press of Russia catalog is N15590.

The editorial board of the journal includes 31 specialists representing leading scientific centers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Ivanovo, as well as foreign countries: Austria, Germany, Israel, Singapore, the USA and France. Among them are 8 academicians and 5 corresponding members of the RAS. The editorial board is represented by 23 experts from Yekaterinburg, Kemerovo, Krasnodar, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don and Chelyabinsk. Among them are 2 academicians and 3 corresponding members of the RAS.

Since 2002, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Russian Journal of Immunology has been regularly included in the "List of periodical scientific and scientific-technical publications published in the Russian Federation, in which publication of the main results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science is recommended."

Since 2016, the Russian Journal of Immunology has been included in the Russian Science Citation Index.
